Just wow

A girl in California doesn’t just watch music videos, she choreographs them. A young man in Egypt doesn’t witness riots in Tahrir Square, he captures them on his smartphone, potentially creating millions more witnesses in the process. These people are active content consumers. Not satisfied to simply observe media like their exclusively television-raised, passive parents, they want to be a part of it: To touch it, feel it, add to, subtract from, and shape it. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, they are compelled to share it.

The whole article is here.  It’s quite a long article but it shows why social media is a paradigm shift on how we view the world the world had changed.

Daniel Treadwell has written a WordPress plugin which pulls your google+ content into your blog.  As you can see below it’s working quite well and was a breeze to install.  You’ll need to grab the G+ API and you’ll need your G+ profile ID to set it up but it’s very easy to do.

You’ll need to go to the home page view of this post to see the “posts below”  Also, there is an issue with comments at the moment.  As you can see the number of comments is displayed but the comments themselves are not visible.  There is a discussion with Daniel on his google+ account if you want to follow-up on this.

This made me chuckle…

I’ve just signed up for a tungle.me account which integrates with my calendar to allow scheduling of meetings with me.  I’m showing my availability on the service so please feel free to connect with me or schedule with me.  I’ve also downloaded the iphone app so I’m intrigued to see what will happen when someone does try and schedule time with me.
